La Masia Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil by La Tienda Review

This extra virgin olive oil by La Masia is made from the first cold pressing of organic Picudo, Hojiblanca and Picual olives. The olives are grown and harvested using traditional organic methods in the Priedo de Cordoba region of Andalucia. This extra virgin olive oil is sweet with a slightly tangy flavor and peppery undertones. It has a low acidity level of 0.5% and a smooth finish. Each of the olives used in this oil contributes their own unique characteristics to create a versatile olive oil that can be used in nearly any dish. Use it as a dipping oil for crusty bread or drizzle it over a mixed green salad with a splash of sherry vinegar. La Masia takes its name from the rustic farmhouses of Catalonia where the cultivation and preparation of traditional food is a integral part of the everyday life. La Masia keeps the tradition alive with this olive oil. The highest quality organic olives are hand selected from their 90+ year old olive groves. The olive trees are planted with blackberry bushes as well as fig and walnut trees to naturally fight off pests. Growing olives organically is more expensive but the company feels that organic farming is the only way to work the land. 100% organic with no preservatives or artificial flavors. Read more...
